Harpoon and clip systems hold the membrane in different ways. The choice affects membrane preparation, installation and the possibility of refitting it later.
With a harpoon system, a rigid edge is welded to the membrane in the workshop and inserted into the profile groove on site. Accurate cutting and edging establish the tension line, and the membrane can usually be removed and refitted. On-site size adjustments are harder than with a clip system.
A clip system clamps the membrane directly in the profile without a separate edge. This allows more adjustment on site, but the finish and subsequent removal depend more on installation technique.
The fixing method should not be confused with the purpose of the profile. Shadow gaps, curtain niches and light lines perform different functions; harpoon or clip describes how the edge is held. Not every model is available in both versions, so check the chosen INVISIA, CURTINA, FLOATIA or other product page. In German, the harpoon edge is also called Keder; it is not a third fixing system.
Alumineu profiles use EN AW-6063 T5 alloy. Check membrane, corner and accessory compatibility against the drawing of the selected model.
Frequently asked questions
Can a harpoon profile be replaced by a clip profile while keeping the membrane? Usually not: the edge has already been prepared for another system. A new membrane or different edge preparation is often required.
What should be chosen for a shadow gap? Select a shadow-gap profile such as INVISIA first, then check which fixing system is available.
