UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffusers retain their colour longer and transmit light evenly. Strip temperature and heat dissipation through the aluminium profile also affect ageing.
Why yellowing occurs
Ultraviolet radiation triggers photo-oxidation in unprotected polymer. Transparency gradually decreases and colour changes, especially near windows. LED-strip heat accelerates ageing: the same plastic behaves differently in a cool channel and an overheated one.
In Alumineu diffusers, UV protection is built into the polycarbonate structure rather than applied as a separate surface film. This helps the material retain its original colour under suitable operating conditions.
Why the aluminium profile matters
The profile accepts strip heat and distributes it through the body. Good contact and appropriate power reduce local overheating. Heat dissipation does not replace UV stabilisation, and protected plastic cannot compensate for an incorrectly selected strip.
The profile material is covered in EN AW-6063 T5 aluminium. Select diffuser, strip and profile as one system using the model page.
Uniform yellowing may indicate material ageing. Local spots more often point to overheating, strip power, contact or power supply. Check the whole light line before replacing only the diffuser.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a ventilation diffuser? No. This article concerns an LED light diffuser. AEROOOM and AERROLL ventilation diffusers carry air.
Is UV protection enough? No. Strip power, thermal conditions and profile design also affect service life.
